SUMMARY:We Remember: The Field of Remembrance
DESCRIPTION:We Remember: The Field of Remembrance\nRiver Raisin National Battlefield Park is Michigan’s largest battlefield and preserves and protects the sacred final resting place of the largest number of US soldiers killed in a single battle during the War of 1812. \nThe Battlefield traditionally flies 500 flags to honor and remember all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for their nation.  Millions of Americans have fought and died on battlefields to defend our freedom and ensure our safety.  The 2022 Field of Remembrance is dedicated to all who answered the call of their Nation to defend\, protect and selflessly pay the ultimate sacrifice.   We hope you will join the National Battlefield Park\, Kiwanis Club of Monroe\,  and the Battlefield Foundation in saluting and thanking all those who continue to rise to the occasion and serve on the front lines to protect us during these challenging times. \nThe flags are visible from sunrise to sunset on the lawn outside the Park’s new Visitor Center. \n\nCOVID-19 Guidelines:\nAs the National Park Service monitors and responds to the COVID-19 pandemic\, we work closely with the doctors and public health professionals in the NPS Office of Public Health to use the latest science to guide our decision making. The CDC recommends all individuals wear a mask indoors in public in areas of substantial or high transmission. However\, visitors to national parks travel from all over the country and the world. Because of this and recognizing that most of the United States is currently in substantial or high transmission categories\, in consultation with doctors and public health professionals\, we’ve implemented a nationwide mask requirement. To best protect our staff and visitors\, masks are required inside all NPS buildings and in crowded outdoor spaces\, regardless of vaccination status or location.
