SUMMARY:We Remember - Field of Flags Remembrance
DESCRIPTION:River Raisin National Battlefield Park is Michigan’s largest battlefield and preserves and protects the sacred soil that became the final resting place of the largest number of United States soldiers killed in a single battle during the War of 1812. \nIt is tradition at the Battlefield to fly 500 flags to honor and remember all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for their nation.  Millions of Americans have fought and died on battlefields to defend our freedom and ensure our safety.  The 2021 Field of Remembrance is dedicated to all who answered the call of their Nation to defend\, protect and selflessly pay the ultimate sacrifice.   We hope you will join the National Battlefield Park\, Kiwanis Club of Monroe\, DTE Energy Foundation\, First Merchants Bank\, La-Z-Boy Incorporated\, Sieb Plumbing and Heating in saluting and thanking all those who continue to rise to the occasion and serve on the front lines to protect us during these challenging times. \nThe flags are visible from sunrise to sunset on the lawn outside the Park’s new Visitor Center. \n**The health and wellbeing of visitors and employees at River Raisin National Battlefield Park remains our top priority. We continue to work closely with the NPS Office of Public Health using CDC guidance to ensure public areas and workspaces are safe and clean for visitors\, employees\, partners\, and volunteers. To continue supporting the nation’s effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19\, services will be to a maximum of 32 people at any one time in the visitor center lobby and a maximum of 30 people at a time in the Park’s theater.   In addition\, visitors are required to follow all State COVID-19 Safety precautions\, must wear a mask when indoors\, and should attempt to maintain a minimum of 6 feet between your group and others.
